Blogging Kindergarten
It’s been fun to help my wife set-up her blog and teach her how to use Wordpress and find things to write about.
She’s really picked it up quickly, despite her claims that she’s still in “blogging kindergarten” - which is a great way to describe what it’s like to first start blogging.
While Wordpress has come a long way recently, and it’s interface is relatively intuitive - I did a complete training session on using it in just one hour, today - it’s still somewhat cumbersome to use.
One of the best tools I ever installed, to help with blogging, is Windows Live Writer. Yes, a Microsoft product! If you’ve not tried it before, it’s a free tool that works with just about any blogging platform. Here are some highlights:
- You can easily switch between a rich text interface, raw HTML code, or even see how the post will look on your site, before publishing.
- Add images to your post and select margins, alignment, size, linking options and much more.
- Automatic spell check and correction!
- Insert tags, select categories, add maps, and so much more.
So, how can I add 10+ blog posts a day? Windows Live Writer my friend!

With your ringing endorsement of WLW I attempted to use it with my Blogger blog, but it wasn’t compatible. Bummer because it sure does look pretty cool.
Strange, I thought they claimed it worked with Blogger. Sorry!
I think I may have graduated from blog kindergarten by including my first photo in a post. I hope to complete the first grade by the end of April.
