Brand.com’s 6 reputation management questions for me
Brand.com asked me to kick off a new series of interviews with online reputation management experts. They asked me 6 questions including:
6 – Can you recommend three useful reputation management tactics that will help people control what people see when they’re Googled?
First, avoid using pronouns when writing your online bio or About Us page. If you write about yourself in the third person, then you’ll always include your personal or business name in your profile.
Second, you are the Super Brand of reputation management. It’s highly likely that your company is #1 in Google for its company name. Therefore, any relevant and optimized site that you link to, using your company name in the anchor text, is going to get a boost in Google.
Lastly, you have to take control of your online brand. Register a domain name, secure the username for different social media profiles and then get to work building them out and using them. In the absence of anything that you create, Google will fill the reputation void with anything else it might find…and you may not like what it finds!
